Catalogue of Microbial Resources and Data

MIRRI-ERIC offers its users a single point of access to about 180.000+ high-quality microbial resources, an ever-growing number made available by its 40+ partner biorepositories. The catalogue covers all types of microorganisms, such as bacteria (and their cognate bacteriophages), archaea, fungi (including yeasts), micro-algae and other microbiological material such as cell lines, natural or constructs carrying plasmids, DNA libraries, and genomic DNA.

The MIRRI Information System provides users with all relevant information and associated contextual data (metadata) about the microbial resources, as available, e.g. taxonomy, ecology, pathogenicity, morphology, physiology, chemical characterisation, DNA barcoding or genomics.

Below, MIRRI-ERIC’s catalogue of microbial resources is organised by major groups and by type of application in the following MIRRI-ERIC’s strategic areas:

  • Area 1 | Research on pathogenic microorganisms and human / human-animal infectious diseases.
  • Area 2 | Research & Development of new (bio)pharmaceuticals / therapeutic solutions (including antimicrobials, vaccines, phage therapies and microbiome therapeutics – for human use).
  • Area 3 | Research & development of new, safe, healthy and sustainable food and feed products.
  • Area 4 | Resources and methods for biological management of soils and crops.
  • Area 5 | Resources and methods for biomonitoring and/or bioremediation of microbial pathogens, persistent organic pollutants and plastics in soils and waters.
  • Area 6 | Research & development of renewable biobased chemicals, materials and bioenergy sources.
• Health & Food        • Agro-food         • Environment & Energy
